Why is Low Carb consumption an effective approach to weight lose?

If you’re looking to achieve lasting weight loss results, one approach that you may wish to try out is the low carb approach.

Low carb plans  when done properly, they can work exceptionally well.  Even though you decrease the amount of carbs consumed, its imperative to make sure you’re consuming good quality carbs – natural sources – vs low quality carbs such as processed foods, wheat, junk etc.

So what is it about a low carb plans that’s so beneficial?  Let’s look at why you might want to consider them.

 1. Blood Glucose Control

The biggest reason why low carb plans tend to be a good option for most people is because they give you excellent blood glucose control.  Every time you eat carbohydrate rich foods, your body is going to experience a spike in blood glucose as those carbohydrates break down.

As this spike in blood glucose occurs, you’ll get a corresponding release of insulin from your pancreas. Insulin’s role is to go in and control your blood glucose, taking some of those glucose molecule sand moving them into the muscle tissues (if you’ve just exercised and have storage room there) or into the body fat cells.

So as you can imagine from this, if you are providing a steady influx of carbohydrates throughout the day and are not that active, many of those carbs will end up in body fat stores.

By decreasing your carb intake on a low carb plan, you prevent this from happening.

2. Hunger Management

In addition to getting superior blood sugar control, you’ll also experience hunger management as well.  When the above situation happens and insulin goes in and removes the sugar from your blood stream, the end result is that you’re left feeling hungry, irritable, and very often, weak and low in energy.

By keeping your carbohydrate intake lower, you will avoid these energy high’s and low’s which come with insatiable hunger as well.

Most people, when faced with very low blood sugar levels, tend to want to binge-eat, often on foods that are anything but healthy.

3. Improved Nutritional Intake

Finally, one last reason why a low carb plan can be a great approach for your plan is because it’ll help you improve your overall nutritional intake when done right.

You’ll be cutting out many of the processed foods that so many people eat today such as bread, cakes, cookies, crackers, granola bars, cereals, pasta, and so forth.  These foods typically provide very little nutrition.

If you replace them with healthier, low carb options such as vegetables, healthy oils, nuts, seeds, lean meats, and select fruits, you’ll be building a plan that will not only help speed fat loss along, but also nourish your body.

So there you have the reasons why a low carb plans can be ideal for fat loss. If you have not yet tried one, now might just be the time to do so.
