i-can-do-this

Staying motivated to keep up with your active lifestyle is perhaps one of the most trying parts of making changes in your day to day living. While at the beginning when you see fast results you’ll find that motivation comes almost naturally, later on as those results start to slow down, that earlier motivation will vanish. Now it’s up to you to do something to keep yourself on track.

Let’s go over some of the top tips to know and remember to help keep motivated with your fitness and clean eating plan.

Set Daily Goals

Setting daily goals is key to success. While you’ve likely set your long-term goals for a few months down the road, don’t overlook the power of having a goal to strive for each and every day.

When you first wake up in the morning, set a goal for something that you want to accomplish that day. It should be someone that requires minimal effort, but that will make you feel accomplished. An example would be something as simple as ensuring you eat healthy meals that 1 day and repeat the same every day.

This process – setting and reaching your daily goals can go a long way towards boosting your self-confidence that you can achieve the success you desire. When you do good….you feel good.

Get A Support Buddy

Another thing to keep you motivated is to get a support buddy in line. Going at it alone is never a wise move, especially if you have fallen off plans in the past before.

Whether this buddy actually does the workout and clean eating with you or they simply are there cheering you on, having someone to turn to during those hard times can make a world of difference.

Make sure this support buddy is someone you feel completely comfortable with and can share all your thoughts and feelings.

Start A Progress Journal

Another great way to stay motivated is to start a progress journal. When you look at yourself in the mirror each and every day, it can be hard to see the small changes taking place.

But, if you look at yourself over a period of say 2-4 weeks, you will certainly see that you are in fact moving forward. Consider taking some progress pictures or measurements using a tape measure at 2 week intervals and placing the info in your progress journal.

Then along with that, also jot down notes on how you feel. Do you have more energy than before? Write that down. Or, maybe you find that you have greater self-control over your food choices. That’s a good one to note as well.

Now when you are feeling unmotivated, you can look back over this journal and see just how far you have come.

Visualize Success

Finally, start envisioning success. Every so often, sit somewhere quiet for ten minutes and picture what it will look like when you finally do reach the goal you’ve set for yourself.

How will your life be different? Be in that moment as best as possible. The more often you do this, the hungrier you will be to make that your new reality.

So there you have some fast and easy strategies to kick-start your motivation. Put these into place and you’ll prevent hitting that lull that can keep you away from the gym or eating right.
