Last week In sugar and weightloss part I video series, I covered:
✅ 4 common types of sugar (glucose, sucrose, fructose, and HFCS -> High fructose corn syrup)
✅ Other sources of sugar such as starchy carbohydrates and how different macronutrients are metabolized in the body
3 reasons why sugar is not good for you
✅ High in calories – 46 calories per teaspoonful
✅ Causes elevated glucose and insulin levels in the body
✅ Disruption of metabolic functions, causes weight gain or impedes weight loss and creates dependency #sugaraddiction
🔹️Did you know that hidden sugars are found in these food items? salad dressings, baked beans, bbq beans, breakfast cereals, Tomato sauce/ketchup, Tomato sauce for pasta, flavored water, sports drinks, dried fruit, Muesli/Granola, Granola bars, Nut butters (peanut butter, almonds butter, etc), Jam, marmalades, marinades, yogurt…the list goes on and on and on😱😱
Sugar is hidden is a lot of items and disguised with fancy names such as dextrin, maltose, dextrose, maltodextrin, saccharin, diatase, ethyl maltol…just to name a few. Why so many names for sugar and why are they not good for you?
In the Sugar and Weight Loss Part 2 Video series, I discuss the 4 types of healthy sugar. These are types that are good for diabetics and help in managing glucose levels and for the average person that wants to lose weight without giving up the sweet taste in tea, oats, coffee and such.
✅ Stevia extracted from the Stevia rebaudiana plant
✅ Erythritol – fermentation of yeast from simple sugars
✅ Monkfruit – fruit from Asia/China
✅ Yacon syrup made from a South America plan
What makes the 4 types of sugar above healthy? How do they support weight loss and where can you find them? Why is honey, agave, maple syrup not as healthy. How about artificial sweeteners – splenda, canderel etc? Are these healthy?
All these questions have been answered in the video that you can watch by clicking the link below

Hi Jane, I don’t like the taste of stevia and the other alternatives seen so expensive. So I’ve just opted to have no sweeteners. But it’s really hard. Am thinking of going back to honey but in small quantities once or twice a week will that have an impact on my overall health
Thanks Jane, you have been helpful, I will switch to monkfruit
The other sweeteners are abut expensive for me,so I have to do without sugar for now
Hello Jane I really appreciate your work that motivates us to lose weight the healthy way.I read one of the emails that you sent me about not doing so many things at the same time. That I should work on one thing and when I’m comfortable with it I can move on to the next.well this really helped coz I decided to stop taking sugar in my tea and with a couple of home workouts I’ve managed to lose 5kgs in a month.you have no idea what impact this had on me.I feel lighter and motivated.of course I sometimes fall but I feel determined to continue. Thanks alot

I have no problem with sugar coz I rarely take tea and when I do, I take hibiscus or green tea which is just the teabag and water. However when am stressed or on my periods sometimes I crave for a fanta passion soda. I am working on it tho. Maybe you can advice on what to do when I get such cravings.

Very informative. Ordering for me. Thanks a lot
Yes
thanks for the information
stevia contains an off flavor. i don’t know about the other alternatives that you mention above. maybe, with your experience you would point out one that flows without affecting the final flavor.,and its. cost.
these healthy sugars are expensive, hence not easy to do trial and error.
asante
In sugar and weight loss part 2 I mentioned that most stevia products have an aftertaste. In the video, I showed you the brand of stevia I use and also on the blog I shared a link. Please refer to that 🙂
